modern boudoir photography in minneapolis | portraits that are sensual and natural
Post-Session Interview with Tricia
How did you first become interested in a boudoir session? And what made you decide to jump in?
Boudoir first came to my attention after a couple of my close girlfriends did sessions for themselves years back. It has since then always been in the back of my mind as something I wished I could try. It wasn't until recently when the idea came to me again as I was thinking about all the things I needed to do to plan for my wedding. I had to ask myself, "what better time than the present?!" I've spent the last year and a half or so trying to be more intentional about self-care, and doing things that challenge me and push me out of my comfort zone. Boudoir seemed like a perfect opportunity to do just that!
How did you find Render Boudoir and what made you choose Britt over other intimate portrait artists? Did something stand out to you?
I first found Render Photography as I was browsing other wedding photographers and various vendors, and was immediately attracted to Britt's style. I happened to see that she also did Boudoir, and that's what inspired me to consider doing a session for myself. I immersed myself in Britt's artwork and searched for all the images I could find on the website, social media, and the blog. I keep imagining myself in the photos., imagining what it would be like to be in the studio. The more and more I read about the experience and Britt's philosophy about body image and self love, the more convinced I became that this was for me. And after looking at several other artist's work, it became pretty apparent that with Britt, each client's photos truly represented them as they were, and not the overly photoshopped version that we so often see in other publications.
From booking to hair/makeup to the session and ordering meeting -- did the whole thing feel like a luxury experience? What did you love about it and would you suggest any changes to make it better?
It absolutely did! First of all, Britt was so quick to reply to my initial request and complete the booking, it made it that much easier for me to get excited for my session! On the day of the shoot, both Britt and Natalie were so warm and welcoming when I arrived, it felt like I was just one of their friends coming over to hang out! The ambiance of the studio was so fun and calming, and it was clear how much care and attention Britt puts into her sets. Any nerves I had were immediately wiped away the moment I sat down in the hair and make up chair. Natalie is amazing at her craft and I really felt like I was being pampered. I can say without exaggeration that I loved literally EVERYTHING about the experience!
Was this an experience you'd recommend to other women? If they had reservations, what would you tell them?
A million times, YES! Britt will guide you every step of the way, so there's no need to worry about not knowing what to wear or how to pose for the photographs. Every woman owes it to herself to feel this way at least once in her life. No matter the reason, just do it. Jump in. Be brave. Be bold. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. I promise you won't regret it. And actually, you will likely want to do it again ;)
What should I be asking that I'm not? Use this space to say anything else you'd like to say!
Thank you for making this semi-scary, somewhat intimidating experience nothing of the sort. It was everything I hoped it would be. I only wish it could have lasted longer!
