Alicia originally contacted me wanting to do a boudoir session that mirrored one her grandmother had done when she was young - there was going to be vintage jewelry and the set design would try to re-create her iconic images as closely as possible. After some time went by, though, Alicia reflected on what she most wanted from her session and changed her mind — she wanted her session to deeply reflect HER. And that’s what we did! Alicia looooves tabletop roleplaying games and so a stack of D&D books and RPG dice was a must. A few fantasy novels and a pair of light-saber tattoos and we were in dungeons-and-dragons sexy nerd paradise! I think Alicia’s shift in thinking was such a beautiful one — to tell a story about who you are openly and honestly without being afraid or trying to emulate someone else. It takes a lot to realize that the things about yourself that you probably tried to hide in the past or felt ashamed of as young person become the most interesting and defining parts of us as adults. A: 50%: Intimate, up close, honest. 50%: Flirty geek

Q: Tell me about what brought you to boudoir photography. Why are you here?

A: I've committed to over six years of weekly therapy, and during that time I've really found myself and my confidence. I've come to boudoir because of that honest, intimate nature that can be captured in photography. Part of that journey is being confident in my own skin, and the other part is being proud of my uniqueness and geeky side.

Q: Describe Youself

A: I am a women in her early 30's who has struggled with anxiety, depression, and body shame for most of my life. Through therapy and a lot of dedication, I'm living the life I've always wanted by not being afraid to show myself - and my geeky, nerdy, goofy, honest - self to those around me.
